Job Purpose

The Medical division of Nursing in OLOLH is continuing to expand and develop. In order to reconfigure existing services and expand new services an additional ADON for Medicine will be appointed. This role will have both operational and strategic managerial functions as determined by the Director of Nursing within the Medical Division and associated functions within Louth Hospitals will be appointed. 

 

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality evidenced based nursing practice in designated areas of responsibility. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Nursing care and Nursing service delivery is adapted to meet the emerging needs of our patients and to reflect best practice on a continuous basis. In doing so the post holder will ensure a service user centeredness approach to service developments and delivery.

Organisational Context

The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.

 

HSE Dublin and North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath,

Monaghan and most areas of Cavan.

 

HSE Dublin and North East Region includes the following hospitals;

  • Louth County Hospital
  • National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh
  • Monaghan General Hospital
  • Mater Misericordiae University Hospital

Essential Criteria

Candidates must:-

 

On the latest date for receiving completed application forms

  • Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the General  Nurse Division, and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives, as appropriate, maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann)

                                                    And

  • Have 7 years post registration nursing experience & 3 years nursing management experience at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM2) in an acute setting.

                                                    And

  • Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher standard in a health care or management related area.

 

And

  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
