The post holder will work collectively with colleagues and carry responsibility for the functions noted below building up the required expertise within their teams:  

  

  1. Regional Planning and Performance requirements aligned with the regional priorities   
  2. Programme and Portfolio Management including supporting of the regional improvement boards  
  3. Organisation Development & Design - building change & innovation capacity  

  

The General Manager will   

  

  • Work directly with the Regional Director of P&P, and regional team to develop regional priorities ensuring that all development resources within the region are aligned and optimised to support this programme  
  • Develop the planning requirements (both annual and strategic) for the respective Health Region and develop relevant regional plans aligned with population needs.  
  • Priority focus will be given to working with front line teams on progressing changes in work practices to support regional priorities.  
  • The post holder will support the development of performance management and assurance system that aligns with national and regional requirements.   
  • The post holder may be required to take a lead role for the Health Region aligned to a particular area of experience or expertise in addition to their core designated role. This is to make the best use of people’s collective skills and knowledge within the Health Region. 

Essential Criteria

Candidates must have at the latest date of application:  

  

  • Senior leadership role in either health or social care delivery with experience of leading and managing change management / project teams  

  

  

  • Significant strategic leadership experience with a proven track record of leading, planning and delivering major organisational change programmes to successful outcomes in a distributed and highly complex organisation or other relevant and highly complex organisation, as relevant to this role  

 

  • Strategic Planning  
  • Service/Business/Operational Planning & Delivery  
  • Programme / Portfolio Management  
  • Change Management  
  • Quality / Service Improvement  

  

  • A proven track-record of leading and delivering on complex, multidisciplinary programmes of work  

  

  • Significant experience in the implementation of performance improvement strategies which should include management and measurement of system performance and service improvement   

  

  • Experience of managing and working collaboratively cross functionally with multiple internal and external stakeholders to achieve results in a complex environment.  

  

  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the role 

 

Health 

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.  

 

Character 

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
