Job Purpose

To work as part of a team of Chefs and other staff operating a bulk cook fresh.

To prepare and serve freshly cooked meals to service users within the remit of the post, at the required times and in accordance with policy and statutory standards.

 

 

The salary scale for the post is: (01/02/2026)

€42,065 €43,222 €46,057 €46,342 €46,627 €46,911 €47,197 €47,482 €47,768 €48,053 €48,369

Essential Criteria

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

 

Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

Have obtained a Professional Cookery award at minimum Level 6 on National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent maintained by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI).

 

Or

 

 Have obtained an equivalent qualification to (i) from another jurisdiction.

 

Or

 

Be currently employed as a Chef in the Irish Health Service.

 

And

 

Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional ability, for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

 

Post specific requirements:

  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of recent experience working as a Chef in a healthcare or other relevant setting
  • A detailed knowledge of the Principles of HACCP and have HACCP Level 2 certification
  • A detailed knowledge of IDDSI (International Diet Dysphagia Standardisation Initiative) Framework and of Therapeutic & Textured Modified Prescribed Diets
  • Demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge of HSE Food, Nutrition and Hydration policy and food safety regulations
