Job Purpose

The Student Allocations Liaison Officer (SALO) plays a pivotal role in the planning, co-ordination and management of Nursing Students’ clinical placements in accordance with NMBI requirements and standards.  

 

The Student Allocations Liaison Officer is responsible for collaborating with clinical sites and the affiliated Higher-Level institution(s).

 

The Student Allocations Liaison Officer is responsible for coordinating and managing student specific HR and financial related matters, including student allowances related to clinical placements.   

 

The SALO encourages the application of nursing theory to nursing practice and participate in introducing changes in practice/projects that will improve patient care and staff/student learning.

 

The SALO facilitates communication across Nursing Practice Development, the organisation and outside agencies.

 

A panel may be created from which future temporary, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full time or part time duration may be filled.

Essential Criteria

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc  

 

  1. a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

  • Are Registered in the relevant division of the Register of Nurse &

Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland NMBI (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais nan Éireann) or entitled to be so registered

AND

  • Have at least 5 years post registration experience (or an aggregate of 5 years fulltime post registration experience) of which 2 years must be in a practice learning environment.
  • Have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

 

AND

 

  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.

 

Annual Registration  

 

(ii) Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the appropriate/relevant

Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) for the role.

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Note1: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher-level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable.  Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme.  The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
