A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Cavan Monaghan Disability
Services from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full
or part-time duration may be filled.

Purpose of the Post
The purpose of this position is to effectively manage Day services. To provide a high
standard of individualised care to all our Service Users in accordance with national
guidance and best practice.
To provide a high standard of individualised care in an environment focusing on each
Service User as an individual, safeguarding their dignity, values and spiritual beliefs.
To offer a service that is person centred enabling Service Users to lead their lives as
fully and independently possible.
To provide personal supports for service users which are underpinned by the core
values of Person centeredness, Community inclusion and Active citizenship and
Quality.
To lead a team who support individuals in all aspects of their daily lives and in accordance
with their evolving plans, to support them to lead a meaningful life.
The post holder will be required to establish and maintain relationships with individuals with
an intellectual disabilities that are based on respect and equality to support people to direct
their own lives. It is critical that when undertaking this work the post holder will do so in a
manner that is consistent with the vision and mission of the service.
The post holder has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity
and resources within the Day Service. The main responsibilities are: quality assurance,
resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating
communication and professional leadership.
Details of Service
Cavan and Monaghan Disability Services provide:
Day, Residential and Community based health and social care services.
There are Sixteen statutory Community based Residential Services (Designated
Centres) one of which provides respite services for Adults and Children with
Intellectual Disability/Autism; and another which provides for people residential and
respite services for Adults with physical and sensory needs.
73 adults receive full time residential support through the provision of HSE
residential services
67 adults who access residential services supported through Service Arrangements
Community based health and social care services are provided through:
A Community Intellectual disability Team for Adults;
A Physical and Sensory Community Team for Adults;
Children’s Disability Network Teams (0 -18 yrs);
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and/or Experience
1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:
i) Possess the National Diploma in Applied Social Care Studies awarded by
Quality & Qualifications Ireland, (QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai
Éireann) / DIT.
Or
ii) Possess the Diploma in Social Care awarded by awarded by Quality &
Qualifications Ireland, (QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai Éireann)
(formerly HETAC) / DIT.
Or
iii) Possess the Diploma in Applied Social Studies/Social Care from DIT.
Or
iv) Possess a BA (Ord) in Social Care Practice (Level 7 on the QQI framework).
Or
v) Possess Open Training College National Diploma in Applied Social Studies
(Disability).
Or
vi) Possess the National Diploma in Childcare awarded by awarded by Quality &
Qualifications Ireland, (QQI) (Dearbhu Cáiliochta agus Cáiliochtai Éireann)
(formerly HETAC) / DIT.
Or
vii) An equivalent social care qualification from another jurisdiction.
And
a) Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a management or supervisory role in the
area of health or social care.
And
b) Possess an appropriate qualification in health or social care management at an
appropriate level.
And
c) Candidates must have a suitable standard of professional attainments.
And
d) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard
of suitability and management ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the
office).
2. Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and
capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health
such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient
service.
3. Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
