Purpose of the Post
Cavan & Monaghan Hospital Post
The purpose of this post is to develop and deliver a quality patient centred acute nutrition and dietetic service
that is in keeping with evidence based best practice.

that is in keeping with evidence based best practice.
Details of Service
Cavan & Monaghan Hospital Post
The Dept of Nutrition & Dietetics at Cavan & Monaghan Hospital comprises of 14 WTE Dietitians providing a service across both sites
to adult and paediatric inpatients and outpatients.
CHN Cavan Post
The Nutrition and Dietetic Service comprises of 9.0 WTE Senior Dietitians and 1 Dietitian Manager.
The Community Nutrition Service provides clinical dietetics (including home enteral tube feeding, malnutrition & chronic diseases etc)
within Community Health Networks throughout the counties of Cavan and Monaghan.
The service delivers training to a number of Health Professional groups and provides group education sessions as part of chronic disease management.
The CHN Cavan post holder may be office based in Cavan Town
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications & or Experience
Candidates must have at the latest date of application: -
1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc
(a) Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Dietitian by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.
and
(ii) Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification dietetic experience.
and
(iii) Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
and
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual registration
(i) Practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Dietitians Register maintained by the Dietitians Registration Board at CORU.
and
(ii) Practitioners confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
3. Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and
be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
4. Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character

Access to appropriate transport is a necessary requirement for the CHN Cavan post, as the post will involve frequent travel.
