The post holder will be assigned to manage the operational activity in the hospital during out of hour’s periods. Responsibilities will include; a bed management responsibility, management of complex clinical/non clinical, operational situations and provision of clinical support, expertise and advice for all grades of staff. The post holder will be required to rotate across night duty, day time and weekend shifts.
The post holder will be expected to influence and lead on identified clinical and non-clinical programmes as defined by the Director of Nursing, The Assistant Director of Nursing role is a key Nursing leadership role and as such the post holder is central to the delivery of the Louth Hospitals, and Dublin North East Region Strategy and national nursing strategy. This will include; contributing to the development of key process and outcome standards and objectives, the development of Key performance indicators and monitoring of same, taking a lead in quality assurance programmes.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Nursing care and Nursing service delivery is adapted to meet the emerging needs of our patients and to reflect best practice on a continuous basis. In doing so the post holder will ensure a service user centeredness approach to service developments and delivery.

A.) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition.
i.) Be registered, or be eligible for registration in the General Division and other divisions as relevant to the specific service, of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

ii.) Have 7 years post registration nursing experience and 3 years nursing management experience at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 (CNM 2) in an acute hospital / unscheduled care setting.
iii.) Have successfully completed a post registration programme of study, as certified by the education provider, which verifies that the applicant has achieved a National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) major academic Level 8 or higher award maintained by Quality & Qualifications of Ireland (QQI) or can provide written evidence from the Higher Education Institute that they have achieved the number of ECTS credits equivalent to a Level 8 or higher standard in a health care or management related area.
