Community Healthcare Services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes.  Community Healthcare Services focus on keeping you well so that you can continue to live at home or close to home through our health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation programs. Cavan & Monaghan Hospital provides a range of acute medical, surgical, obstetric, and gynaecological, paediatric services, day care, outpatient, diagnostic and support services.  Emergency services are provided on a 365-day, 24 hour basis.  Multi-disciplinary teams representative of medical, nursing/midwifery, health and social care professionals, management administration and general support staff play a pivotal role in the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of these services.  Cavan General Hospital has a total in-patient bed complement of 255 and 102 day beds.  Monaghan Hospital has a total of 61 in-patient beds inclusive of step-down and rehabilitation and 17 day beds. The total staff HSE complement is approximately 1279 in Cavan General Hospital and 159 in Monaghan Hospital.  The hospital is affiliated to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) for medical education, to Dundalk Institute of Technology for nursing education and to University College Dublin (UCD), Trinity College Dublin (TCD) and the Institute of Technology for health and social care professional education

The post of Senior Radiographer, with a special interest in Ct, in CMH has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and allocated resources.

The main responsibilities are:

Quality assurance, scheduling workflow, staff development, facilitating communication and professional/clinical leadership with the CT departments.

The Senior Radiographer, will support the clinical specialist radiographer and RSM’s in ensuring CT imaging to a high standard of technical quality in a caring and efficient manner and in line with established guidelines and operating procedures as we as holding responsibility for other departmental senior duties.

The post holder must function integrally within the Radiology team and have proficiency in CT, General & ED X-ray,

The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team and will lead, guide and supervise radiographic and other staff to successfully manage the CT services as well as other departmental duties, with effective utilisation of all resources allocated for the delivery of Outpatient and In-patient services

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must on the closing date:

1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

i) Be registered or be eligible to register on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU. (https://www.coru.ie/)

AND

ii) Have 3 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 3 years) post qualification clinical experience.

AND

iii) Requisite Knowledge & Ability

Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

                                                                    AND

iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Radiography Division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

AND

2. i) Possess a recognised postgraduate course in CT relevant to the specialism (Quality & Qualifications Ireland Level 9) as recognized by the IIRRT and have no less than 4 years practical clinical experience working in the specialty. Practical clinical experience will include time assigned to work in the relevant specialist area but needs to comply with the following breakdown:

Pre commencement of a postgraduate course (maximum of 1 year* allowed);

Time spent completing the post graduate course (maximum of 1 year** allowed);

A minimum of 2 years’ experience* following completion of a postgraduate course.

*A minimum of 12 weeks assigned to work in the relevant specialised area will be required for each relevant year to be counted.

2. Annual Registration
3. i) On appointment practitioners must maintain annual registration on the relevant division of the Radiographers Register maintained by the Radiographers Registration Board at CORU.

AND

1. ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

3. Health

 Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

4. Character

Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Citizenship Requirements

Eligible candidates must be:

• • EEA, Swiss, or British citizens

OR

• • Non-European Economic Area citizens with permission to reside and work in the State
