Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is an Acute General Hospital which incorporates a Maternity Unit. The Hospital provides maternity services to the catchment area of Counties Louth, Meath and North Dublin.
The Maternity Unit is the largest Maternity Unit in the Region with approximately 3100 births per year. The Unit incorporates a 50 bed Obstetric Unit; a Midwifery Led Unit and a Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. It is part of the RCSI Hospital Group.

The Neonatal Unit is a level 2 unit with 16 cots (5 ICU/HDU) We are part of the neo-natal network within the RCSI Hospital Group incorporating the Rotunda Hospital Dublin and Cavan General Hospital.
To work within a multidisciplinary team in providing a safe, effective, high quality midwifery service to women, babies and their families.

Be registered in the Midwifery Division of the active Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (An Bórd Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or be entitled to register.
OR
Have successfully completed the clinical and academic requirements of their BSc in Midwifery Studies in September 2026 and who will be eligible for registration thereafter with An Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland
AND
Have the clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role

Age restriction shall only apply to a candidate where s/he is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age on the first day of the month in which the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the office occur
Note1: Candidates must achieve a pass in Ordinary or Higher-level papers. A pass in a foundation level paper is not acceptable. Candidates must have achieved these grades on the Leaving Certificate Established programme or the Leaving Certificate Vocational programme. The Leaving Certification Applied Programme does not fulfil the eligibility criteria.
