Job Purpose

Provide senior clinical and operational leadership across acute services with a primary focus on optimising Emergency Department performance, and access to care, while ensuring integration across all acute and step-down pathways.

The post holder will lead delivery of unscheduled care performance (ED conversion, trolley waits, LOS) and develop integrated clinical pathways across ED, AMAU, wards and community services.

Essential Criteria

 

  • A proven track record of Service Management experience in an acute hospital setting is essential.
  • A relevant professional / 3rd level qualification
  • Senior clinical or operational leader (medical, nursing, or management)
  • Experience in senior management in a multidisciplinary team, within an acute Hospital setting, as relevant to the role
  • Candidates must possess sufficient administrative capacity to discharge the functions of the office and have management ability and experience.
  • A proven track record of Service Management, ideally in a healthcare driven industry is essential.
  • A relevant professional / 3rd level qualification

 

Strong experience in:

  • ED / acute operations
  • Developing pathways

Proven ability to deliver system-wide change

 

 Experience in:

  • Unscheduled care programmes
  • Service redesign / pathway development

 Strong data and performance management capability

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

 

Age

  • Age restrictions shall only apply to a candidate where he/she is not classified as a new entrant (within the meaning of the Public Service Superannuation Act, 2004). A candidate who is not classified as a new entrant must be under 65 years of age.
