Job Purpose

Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda provides sexual health care to patients across both out-patient and inpatient settings under the governance of three consultants, 1 GUM and 2 Infectious diseases. The sexual health service delivers ambulatory care in line with the National Sexual Health Strategy across two sites, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and Louth County Hospital, Dundalk and provides a consultant-led consult service for inpatients.

 

The RANP (Sexual Health) will use his / her extensive clinical knowledge and expertise in this specialist area to provide a holistic approach to meet the needs of patients within this service. Under the direction of the assigned Consultant, the post holder will manage their own case load, conduct comprehensive health assessments, instigate appropriate investigations, provide education to parents and staff, audit own practice and carry out research.

 

Louth Hospitals incorporating Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda and Louth County Hospital Dundalk has clinical indemnity under the terms of the Clinical Indemnity Scheme. The Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner role is thus incorporated into the standard insurance arrangement.

Organisational Context

HSE Dublin North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and most areas of Cavan.

 

Community Healthcare Services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes.  Community Healthcare Services focus on keeping you well so that you can continue to live at home or close to home through our health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation programs. You can refer yourself to most Community Healthcare Services or through your GP, public health nurse, community mental health team, etc. Services include - Primary Care, Social Care - Older Persons, Social Care – Disabilities, Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Quality, Safety and Service Improvement.

Essential Criteria

Registered Advanced Nurse Practioners

 

  1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

Are registered in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Register maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus

      Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

 

Or

 

Be eligible to register in the Advanced Nurse Practitioner division of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Register by meeting the criteria for registration as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner as specified www.nmbi.ie 

 

And

 

Have a broad base of clinical experience relevant to the advanced field of practice in sexual health.  This should include 5 years clinical practice.

           

          And

Demonstrates the competences relevant to the specialist area of advanced practice

 

                         And

  • Possesses the requisite knowledge and ability including a high standard of suitability and clinical, professional and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

 

  1. Annual registration

On appointment, Practitioners must  be eligible to maintain live annual registration on the Advanced Nurse Practitioner Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) for the role.

 

AND

 

Practitioners must confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
