Cavan/Monaghan Psychology Service in Community Healthcare area Cavan Monaghan provides a wide range of psychological services to a population of approximately 146,033.
The Psychology Department for Cavan/Monaghan provides services across the lifespan including: Primary Care Child Psychology;
Primary Care Adults (Primary Care); CAMHS, Adult Mental Health, Later Life, Rehab and Recovery, MHID (Mental Health Services);
Adult Intellectual Disability Service and Adult Physical and Sensory Disability Team.
The Principal Psychologist Specialist in Primary Care Child (Cavan/Monaghan) will support the Psychology Manager in
ensuring high standards of professional practice across Child Psychology Primary Care services.
The Principal Psychologist Specialist in CAMHS (Cavan/Monaghan) will support the Psychology Manager in ensuring
high standards of professional psychological practice across the three CAMHS teams in Cavan Monaghan.
The Psychology Department has strong links with the Clinical Psychology Programme at UCD and NUI, Galway and offers supervised training opportunities
to a number of professional training courses. Staff members have opportunities to participate in an internal monthly CPD programme delivered via care-group meetings
and to avail of external training as part of agreed PPD plans, subject to budgetary constraints.
Purpose of the Post
The overall purpose of the post is to assist the Principal Clinical Psychologist in the clinical governance
of the service and to contribute to and support the development of the service in line with Divisional operational plans.
The Principal Psychologist Specialist will provide supervision and line-management for the relevant Psychology staff working in the designated area, i
n addition to carrying a clinical caseload. The post-holder will also support the Psychology Manager with designated Departmental tasks and
projects relevant to the development of Child Psychology services.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualifications and/ or experience
Candidates must at the latest date of application:
Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
A recognised University degree or diploma obtained with first or second class honours in which psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
And
A recognised postgraduate professional psychological qualification appropriate to the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated.
And
Have at least eight years satisfactory post graduate experience in the area of professional psychology in which the position is designated
inclusive of any time spent in pursuing a course leading to the postgraduate qualification and including at least three years satisfactory experience in a senior capacity.
And
Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and management ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health
such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Post Specific Requirements:
Demonstrate depth and breadth of professional experience in the successful development of high quality,
integrated, accountable and efficient services in Child Psychology.
And
Demonstrate significant depth and breadth of experience, to include working at a senior capacity,
in the provision of assessment, formulation, intervention, evaluation and reporting with a broad range of
clinical problems in terms of complexity and severity seen within the care group area of Child Psychology.
