The overall objective of this post is to assist the Principal Medical Officer in carrying out the Community Medical Services’ function within the designated integrated health area.
The Community Medical Doctor will carry out the range of duties allocated by the Principal Medical Officer.
Working within the Community Medical Service the Community Medical Doctor will work closely with other Community Medical Doctors, Managers of Community Services and Heads of Discipline.
The Community Medical Doctor will also have a close working relationship with primary and secondary schools in the area.
Community Medical Doctors provide a range of medical services in the areas of Child and Adolescent Health, Immunisations, Services for Older Persons and those with Physical, Sensory and Learning Disabilities.
1.Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications for the post:
A. Be a medical practitioner who is registered other than provisionally or temporarily in the Register of Medical Practitioners for Ireland or is entitled to be so registered.
B. Possess a master’s in public/Diploma in Public Health and/or equivalent qualification. Example would include:
3.Experience
Have had, since becoming entitled to full registration, at least five years satisfactory experience in the practice of the medical profession.
4. Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
5.Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
