Job Purpose

Location of the post

 

HSE Dublin North and East Region, Connolly Hospital

 

Connolly Hospital is currently expending their HDU service, as a result, there are currently several permanent, full-time (1 WTE) vacancies upcoming. Additional full-time vacancies expected to arise in coming months

 

A panel may be created from which permanent and specified purpose vacancies for Staff Nurse HDU/ICU positions of full or part time duration may be filled.

 

Due to the urgent requirement to fill posts, successful candidates will be expected to take up position in November 2026. Interviews will be held on 10th September.

 

 

The Staff Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing care practiced in the relevant care setting. The staff nurse will provide holistic, person centred care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for service users.

 

 

The Salary scale for the post is as at: - (01/06/2026)

Essential Criteria

  1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

 

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

 

                                                        And

  • Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, (including a high standard of clinical and administrative capacity), for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

  1. Annual registration

 

  • On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).

 

And

 

  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with the NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual     Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

 

The following points may be used for the purpose of shortlisting; therefore, it is important that your application clearly demonstrates how your knowledge and experience meets both the eligibility and post specific points.

 

  1. Demonstrate your depth and breadth of knowledge of critical care nursing, as relevant to the role.
  2. Demonstrate depth and breadth of recent nursing experience (within the past 2 years) working in an acute hospital setting, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in ICU/HDU/CCU.
  3. Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in working within the Irish acute healthcare setting.
