There is currently a permanent and whole-time vacancy available in Cavan Monaghan Disability
Services.
Social Worker, Team Leader in Cavan Monaghan IHA, Cavan and Monaghan Disability, from
which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies in Cavan Monaghan
Disability Services of full or part-time duration may be filled.

Organisational Context

Purpose of the Post 

Successful candidates will lead a co-ordinated approach to the management of all services within
Adult Physical &Sensory Disability Services and ensure an integrated approach to the delivery of
Services. He/she will be required to work closely with the Disability Service Manager in relation
to priorities, quality assurance, co-ordination of voluntary sector, equity and service evaluation.

 

Details of Service

The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both
hospital and community care for the people in that area. Bringing community health services and
hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.
HSE Dublin North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan
and most areas of Cavan.
Community Healthcare Services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to
people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes. Community Healthcare
Services focus on keeping you well so that you can continue to live at home or close to home

through our health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation
programs. You can refer yourself to most Community Healthcare Services or through your GP,
public health nurse, community mental health team, etc. Services include - Primary Care, Social
Care - Older Persons, Social Care – Disabilities, Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Quality,
Safety and Service Improvement.
HSE Dublin North East Region includes the following hospitals;

The Adult Physical & Sensory Team deliver services to adults who meet the criteria for the Adult
Physical and Sensory Disability team. It is the aim of the APSD Team to provide a holistic, person
centred community based service to all service users.
In Cavan/Monaghan the Adult Physical and Sensory Disability team provides a multidisciplinary
service to adults aged between 18 and 65years, who present with
• Static and progressive neurological conditions
• Traumatic and non-traumatic brain injury
• Other physically disabling Neurological conditions


The team consists of a Social Worker Team Lead, Acquired Brain Injury Ireland case manager,
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Regional Community Worker for MS Ireland, physiotherapists, Clinical
Psychologist, Speech & Language therapist, Social Worker and Occupational Therapist and
clerical support. The service is provided within a holistic team based approach. This service is
delivered in collaboration within all services in the Cavan/Monaghan IHA.
The multidisciplinary team provide assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic intervention and
support to service users and their families. Onward referral is facilitated as appropriate. Support
is also offered in relation to applications for home support, day service, vocational and education
and residential options.


The team maintains close links with Acute Services, Rehabilitation Services and Voluntary
bodies working in Cavan/Monaghan.
Adult Physical and Sensory Services (APSD) are delivered through centre, community and home
based settings. This can be on an individual or group basis.


The Social work team leader will not have an operational line management role for social workers.

Qualifications and/or Experience

 

1. Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc

(a) Eligible applicants will be those who on the closing date for the competition:

 

(i) Must be registered in the social Work Register maintained by the Social Work Registration Board at CORU.

And

(ii) Maintain live annual registration on the Social Workers Register maintained by the Social Workers Registration Board at CORU

And

(iii) Must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, professional and managerial ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

And

(iv) Have three years relevant post qualification experience.

 

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would

indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

 

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Post Specific Requirements

Demonstrate your depth and breadth of Social Work experience in the area of Multi-Disciplinary Community Work, Safeguarding

Vulnerable clients and must have experience and knowledge of legislative framework and have experience of preparing and implement necessary requirement for legal application and court appearance.
