Key Responsibilities

Purpose of the Post 

The provision of high-quality cleaning in line with hospital and national infection control policies, HACCP and Environmental Health Office regulations.

 

Detalis of Service

The HSE has created six new health regions. Each region is responsible for providing both hospital and community care for the people in that area.

Bringing community health services and hospitals together means we can take a more patient-centred approach to healthcare.

HSE Dublin North East provides health and social care to North Dublin, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and most areas of Cavan.

Community Healthcare Services are delivered through the HSE and its funded agencies to people in local communities, as close as possible to people’s homes.

Community Healthcare Services focus on keeping you well so that you can continue to live at home or close to home through our health promotion, disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.

You can refer yourself to most Community Healthcare Services or through your GP, public health nurse, community mental health team, etc.

Services include - Primary Care, Social Care - Older Persons, Social Care – Disabilities, Mental Health, Health and Wellbeing, Quality, Safety and Service Improvement.

HSE Dublin North East Region includes the following hospitals;
• Beaumont Hospital
• Cavan General Hospital
• Connolly Hospital
• Louth County Hospital
• National Orthopaedic Hospital Cappagh
• Monaghan General Hospital
• Mater Misericordiae University Hospital
• Our Ladys Hospital Navan
• Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital
• Rotunda Hospital

 

Cavan Monaghan Older Persons Services include a network of 5 Community Centres providing public beds of which 148 are Long Stay Beds and the remaining 48 are Short Stay Beds. They are supported by a range of community Day Services. The Community Centres are located as follows:
Cavan Services: Lisdarn Transitional Centre – 32 Beds – all Short Stay, Virginia Community Health Centre – 51 Long Term Care Beds and 5 Respite Beds, Sullivan Centre – 18 Long Term Care Beds and 2 Respite Beds and Breffni Care Centre – 17 Long Term Care Beds and 1 Respite Beds.
Monaghan Services: St. Mary’s Residential Centre – 62 Long Term Care Beds and 8 Respite Beds.

In Cavan, 3 Centres are subject to Registration with the Health Information Regulatory Authority – Sullivan, Breffni and Virginia.
Lisdarn is subject to inspection by HIQA under the Better Safer Healthcare Standards.

Attached to Virginia, there is a Nurse Led Day care which provides the link with Primary Care, Day Respite and Nursing Support for those living at home. There is also a HSE Day Care Service located in Swanlinbar. The Day Centres have a particular focus, healthy ageing and supporting people to remain healthy and at home for as long as possible.

The role of the Community Centres under Slaintecare, reflects the needs of the population in delivering care to the person as close as possible to their home.
The Director of Nursing 4 will take a lead role in the development and re-orientation of services to reflect this change and may be nominated by the HSE as the Registered Provider Representative for HIQA.

 

Essential Criteria

Eligibility Criteria

 

Candidates must at the closing date for receipt of application forms:


• Have 2nd level education to Junior Certificate Level at a minimum, which includes pass in 5 subjects.
Or
• Have completed a relevant examination at a comparable standard in any equivalent examination in another jurisdiction
And
• Previous experience working in a household/catering environment in a healthcare setting i.e. Hospital/Nursing Home/Day Care Facility or in the hospitality sector

And
• Possess a competent level of spoken and written English to compile HACCP/HIQA documents.

 

Health
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health

such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character
Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

 

Other requirements specific to the post

- Flexibility as regards working hours as post is 24/7 365 days a year, therefore roster will be over nights and days, 7 days a week.
- Onsite training will be provided to the successful candidate.
