The primary purpose of this post is to be responsible for providing a high quality, patient-focussed echocardiography service for GP-referred patients to Louth Hospitals or connected hospitals and any related specialist ambulatory care hub in Louth & Meath, under the clinical and governance framework of the Cardiology Service in Louth Hospitals.

The Senior Cardiac Physiologist will also support cardiac investigations and interventions in Louth Hospitals and will be expected to work as part of the Louth Hospital’s Integrated Care Cardiology Team. The post holder will also be expected to perform all cardiac investigations or other duties deemed appropriate to their position, coupled with supporting the Chief II Physiologist in providing and developing a busy service.

A panel will be formed as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda & Louth County Hospital

Candidates must meet the following criteria on the closing date:

Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.

 (a) Candidates must,

(i) Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology

                                                                   Or

(ii) Possess the BSc in Clinical Measurement from Technological University Dublin (TUDublin)

                                                                   Or

(iii) Possess an equivalent relevant scientific qualification (Level 8) as confirmed by the Irish Institute of Clinical Measurement Science (IICMS).

                                                                    Or

(iv) (a)Possess the Certificate in Medical Physics and Psychological Measurement (MPPM) from Dublin Institute of Technology

                                                                                  Or

(iv) (b) An equivalent scientific qualification as confirmed by the Irish  Institute of Clinical Measurement Science as awarded in or before 2005 *(See Note 1)

                                                                                 AND

(v) Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years fulltime) relevant post qualification experience.

  (b)  Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office

* NOTE 1:  In exceptional cases, where the IICMS are not in a position to validate pre 2005 qualifications, the Clinical Measurement Physiologists experts on the eligibility /selection board ma, at their discretion, deem as eligible:

HSE Applicants who are currently employed a Clinical Measurement Physiologists, and who are employed in or before 2005, on the presentation of proof of their qualification/s that was acceptable on the commencement of employment.

Health

A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character

Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
